Spaceport Technologies at ATDC

Supporting the KSC Strategic Plan, the ATDC is a key project in implementing KSC’s evolution to a Spaceport Technology Center (STC).   As an STC, KSC has reorganized around a line of products and services supporting Spaceport Development.  The overriding purpose of the ATDC is to research, develop, demonstrate, qualify, and test technologies in a relevant environment in order to apply them to existing and future spaceports.

The ATDC will be used to develop knowledge, skills, expertise, and technologies in the following Spaceport Technology Development Initiatives (STDI’s):

  • Fluids System Technologies
  • Spaceport Structures and Materials
  • Process Engineering
  • Command, Control, Monitoring, and Range Technologies

It is expected that these technologies will continue to evolve throughout the life of the ATDC.

Via Capital Usage Agreements, the ATDC customer base will be able to utilize the ATDC infrastructure for the research, development, demonstration, qualification, and testing of spaceport technologies.  In addition, via Technology Transfer Agreements, ATDC customers will be able to benefit from the results of other ATDC activities.

Hence, the ATDC will support the transfer of technology, the enabling of technology, and the commercialization of technology.
